President Murmu releases Rs 100 commemorative coin to mark NTR's centenary

NEW DELHI: On the occasion of the centenary birth anniversary of late Chief Minister and founder of TDP, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, President Draupadi Murmu released a Rs 100 commemorative coin with his image at the Cultural Center in Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Murmu said that she was paying tribute to NTR on his centenary and that his role was very important in the progress of the Indian film industry. She praised him for leaving an indelible mark on people with characters like Krishna and Rama, saying that people saw the forms of gods in NTR.

Murmu also said that NTR had shown his uniqueness in politics as well, and that he wanted to uplift the poor people and work hard for social justice. She was joined at the event by members of NTR's family, including TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu.

The commemorative coin was released as part of the government's efforts to honor NTR's contributions to the state and the country. The coin features a portrait of NTR on the obverse and the Ashoka Chakra on the reverse. It is made of cupro-nickel and has a diameter of 23 millimeters.
