HYDERABAD: YSRTP chief YS Sharmila paid a courtesy visit to veteran politician D Srinivas at his residence here on Monday. She enquired about his health during the visit which also saw the former PCC chief and ex-Rajya Sabha MP heaping praise on the YSR scion. He claimed that YS Sharmila would emerge as the chief minister of Telangana in future.
D Srinivas' sensational observations came during an interesting conversation the two had over the current political scenario in the state. The senior politician also reminisced his association and memories with former chief minister and Sharmila's father late YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
"Madam Sharmila is an iron lady. At an appropriate time, she and her party will enjoy stupendous support from the people of the state. I back my experience in politics to say Sharmila will become the chief minister. I predicted about YSR becoming the chief minister in 2003 itself. His daughter too will become the chief minister," claimed D Srinivas.
Having launched her party about an year ago, YS Sharmila is harbouring dreams of making it big in Telangana in the 2023 elections. She has already announced that her party would field its candidates in all the constituencies. She herself is largely believed to be in favour of Khammam to test her electoral fortunes.
Sharmila has been trying hard to propagate the vision of YSRTP among the public through her padayatras and protest programmes. But the fledgling party is yet to make inroads into the political scape of Telangana as it is still in a very nascent stage. At a time when this political entity is still not being seen as a serious contender, the prediction of veteran leader D Srinivas on Sharmila on Monday should be like music to the ears for all her followers and party activists.
