Sunday Funday back on Tankbund, rain doesn't deter people

HYDERABAD: After a long time, Funday on Sunday is back on the best hangout place, Tankbund, in Hyderabad.

Lockdown due to pandemic and subsequent issues have forced the authorities to discontinue the most-sought-after event of the denizens of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

However, marking the Swatantra Bharata Vajrotsavaalu celebrations of the last Telangana State Government, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) relaunched the Funday on Sunday.

People of all ages and walks of lives thronged the Tankbund. Despite rain, people came onto the Tank Bund and enjoyed the celebrations. The HMDA officials distributed saplings of different varieties to people. The revellers enjoyed the evening savouring food and snacks at easterlies. The Tank Bund was decked up with a row of pillars on which tricolour was flying.

Balloons in tricolours were released into the air. People wanted the Sunday Funday to be continued regularly. The authorities closed the Tank Bund for traffic.
