Telangana seeks Rs.1,000 CR as flood assistance from Centre

HYDERABAD: The Telangana State Government has asked for an assistance of Rs.1,000 crore from the Centre towards flood relief.

The State Government had the damage caused by the recent floods assessed and estimated the initial loss at Rs.1,400 crore.

The State Government said that the Roads and Buildings department incurred a loss of Rs.498 crore, as many roads and causeways were washed away in the flood. The Panchayat Raj department suffered a loss of Rs. 449 crore. Irrigation Department's loss was put at Rs.33 crore, the Municipal Administration department's loss was pegged at Rs.379 crore, the electricity department suffered a loss of Rs.7 crore, according ro the preliminary estimates.

The relief camps and evacuations caused an expenditure of Rs. 25 crore. The other losses were also factored in and the preliminary estimate was out at Rs.1,400 crore.

The State Government submitted the list of losses and damage to the Centre seeking financial assistance.
