HYDERABAD: As part of the Swatantra Bharata Vajrotsavalu, several popular edifices and historical structures have been illuminated splendidly, themed on Indian Tricolour. With authorities taking special care using new-age tech, these prominent landmarks oozed with patriotic fervour, adding glitter to the night view.

In Hyderabad, the historical Charminar, GHMC's imposing building and the Nanakramguda Toll Plaza on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) were among those that were beautifully lit up. Ramappa Temple in Warangal district too was tastefully electrified. These places will remain illuminated with the Tricolour theme throught the duration of the fortnight-long celebrations, aimed at commemorating India's 75 years of Independence.

Thanks to the special lighting, commuters and people on the streets are being provided with a visual treat. All important places across the state like bus stands, railway stations, airports, star hotels, hospitals and shopping malls were 'painted with patriotic light' besides some special decorations by the authorities.

Cultural programmes including musical events and special activities were being organised by the cultural department. Internationally acclaimed film Gandhi directed by Richard Attenborough is also being screened across the state and competitions for students related to the theme will also be conducted.
