MANTHANI: A video of a man wading through strong currents of flood waters in Manthani town of Peddapalli district in Telangana is going viral. If you are wondering what's so special in it, here is the twist. The spine-tingling visual shows the man actually carrying a three-month-old baby on his head and in a basket. This had netizens quickly draw comparisons with the famous Sivagami scene from ace Tollywood director S S Rajamouli's blockbuster 'Bahubali'.

In Bahubali 1, the scene where Sivagami holds up a baby with one hand while being drowned in a river and holding up a baby with one hand enthralled the audiences. The latest Manthani incident presented a similar spectacle, sending the social media into a frenzy.

Manthani town, like many places in Telangana, received flash floods following copious rains. As the floodwater levels kept rising, rescue teams swung into action and shifted residents of several low-lying areas to safer areas. The family in the viral video too faced difficulties in getting out of their house located in Marrivada.

To ensure utmost safety of the infant, one of the rescue team members first covered the baby in a cloth and placed it in a basket. Later, he carried the basket on his head while carefully wading through the floodwater. With the rescue team member taking care of the baby, the parents followed them to reach to safety.

With the episode resembling the epic scene from Baahubali, the video quickly went viral on the Internet. While it was instantly devoured on the social media, the scene ironically reflected the hardships of common people who were caught in the floods in Manthani town.

Meanwhile, the authorities stopped power supply in Manthani town for over 12 hours as a precautionary measure. The Gautameshwara Swamy temple on the banks of River Godavari was marooned in flood water. According to reports, about 20 persons were feared trapped there leaving their families worried about their safety. In some villages of Manthani mandal, rescue teams formed from revenue and police departments are shifting those trapped in floods to safer areas.
