“When global kites met local culture” documentary by Sushil Rao wins award at Indo French International Film Festival

HYDERABAD: A documentary titled “When Global Kites Met Local Culture” produced and directed by Hyderabad-based documentary filmmaker Chilkuri Sushil Rao has won the “Best Documentary Short Film Special Jury Award “ at the Indo French International Film Festival.
The announcement about the awards of the January 2024 edition was made on February 8.
In the Indo French International Film Festival, Puducherry, India, the Best International Feature Film award was won by Emmanuel Plasseraud of France for the film “Renaissance”.
The Best Documentary Feature Film award went to Daniel Maurer of Switzerland for the film “And outside life goes on”.
Beno Joseph Malogi of Kraftsmen Media provided the theme music for Chilkuri Sushil Rao’s documentary “When Global Kites Met Local Culture”.
The documentary features kite lovers from across the world who participated in the international kites festival organised in Hyderabad in January 2024 by the Government of Telangana.
Kite lovers from France, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia and other countries discuss their fascination for flying kites in the documentary.
The highlight of the documentary is the performances by cultural troupes of Telangana which fascinated kite lovers from across the globe.
Sari of Indonesia, who loves flying kites, brought along a giant-size cut-out kite of Jamaican legendary reggae singer Bob Marley to fly at the Parade grounds in Secunderabad.
