Retired IPS officer Anuradha takes charge as APPSC chairperson
Anuradha, a retired IPS officer, assumes duties as APPSC Chairperson and reviews pending recruitments.
VIJAYAWADA: Retired IPS officer A R Anuradha assumed her duties as the Chairperson of the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) on Thursday at the commission's office in Vijayawada.
APPSC Secretary administered her oath of office during the ceremony. Board members, officials, and staff extended their congratulations to Anuradha on her new role.
Following her swearing-in, Anuradha reviewed pending recruitments under the commission's purview, including Group 1 and Group 2 exams, and discussed upcoming recruitment exams and interviews.
Anuradha, a 1987 batch IPS officer, has served as SP and IG in various districts of the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. She was notably the first woman IPS officer to head the Intelligence Department in the state. She also held the position of Director General, Vigilance and Enforcement.
Anuradha's husband, Nimmagadda Surendra Babu, is also an IPS officer from the same batch. Anuradha takes over the position after the resignation of Gautam Sawang, who stepped down as APPSC Chairman despite having a year left in his tenure.
