ANAKAPALLI: The accused in the sensational Anakapalli minor girl murder case, Suresh, has committed suicide.
Villagers discovered a decomposing body in a grass field on the outskirts of Koppugundupalem village in Rambilli Mandal. The body, dressed in a black T-shirt and track pants, matched the description of the clothes Suresh was wearing when he fled. Villagers immediately informed the police, who found evidence at the scene suggesting that Suresh had consumed poison.
The recent murder of a minor girl in Koppugundupalem village, Anakapalli district, had shocked the state of Andhra Pradesh. The government took the case seriously after Suresh broke into the girl's home and slit her throat out of revenge for being sent to jail earlier. Following the murder, district police launched an extensive manhunt involving over 20 teams, who searched bus stations, railway stations, cinema halls, and crowded areas in plain clothes. They even announced a cash reward of Rs 50,000 for information leading to Suresh’s arrest.
From the beginning, police suspected that Suresh might commit suicide, given the note he left at the murder scene. Their suspicions were confirmed when his body was found.
Suresh had a troubled past. After his mother's death during his childhood, he was mostly raised by his grandmother in Koppugundupalem. He completed an ITI course but remained unemployed for a long time, during which he fell into bad habits. He worked briefly as a driver and later as a contract worker in a pharma city. During this time, Suresh became infatuated with Darshini, a girl from his village, and began harassing her under the guise of love, promising to marry her. After her family reported him to the police, Suresh was jailed under the POCSO Act. Released on bail two months ago, Suresh sought revenge and murdered the girl.
