Alcohol addict slits wife's throat, chops off body parts in Tadepalligudem

TADEPALLIGUDEM: A person, addicted to alcohol, brutally killed his 30-year-old wife in Veerampalem of Tadepalligudem in the West Godavari district on Thursday night. According to reports, Ganji Daveedu and Nirmala, natives of Veerampalem, have two daughters and a son. The couple was said to be involved in frequent quarrels, which prompted the woman to leave her children at her parents' house and move to Kuwait for employment.

Daveedu, who was addicted to alcohol, had been torturing his children in a pressure tactic to fleece his wife for money. Daveedu also made a video harassing his son and sent it to his wife, which went viral in social media here. Subsequently, the Tadepalligudem police have arrested Daveedu and sent him to jail.

After Nirmala returned to Tadepalligudem from Kuwait, Daveedu was also released from jail. In an act of treachery, Daveedu coaxed his wife to believe him on the promise that he had mended his way and brought her back to his house in Veerampalem.

On Thursday night, the couple quarreled again and in the heat of the moment, Daveedu brutally killed Nirmala by slitting her throat. In a vengeful act, he even chopped off her hands and head. Upon receiving the information, DSP Bandaru Srinath and the Tadepalligudem Rural Police reached the spot and arrested Daveedu. The incident evoked widespread outrage in the region.
