Banjara Hills inspector caught by ACB for taking Rs. 3 lakh bribe from pub owner in Hyderabad
Banjara Hills Inspector M Narender initially demanded Rs. 4.5 lakhs for three months of mamool, but later reduced it to Rs. 3,00,000
HYDERABAD: The Anti-Corruption Bureau(ACB) has filed a criminal misconduct case against Banjara Hills Inspector M Narender, Sub-inspector S Naveen Reddy, and Home Guard Hari for accepting a bribe from the Rock Club Sky Lounge owner in Hyderabad.
Banjara Hills Inspector M Narender initially demanded Rs. 4.5 lakhs for three months of mamool, but later reduced it to Rs. 3,00,000 according to ACB. He further demanded more money from the complaint Neela Rajeshwar Laxman Rao, Managing Partner, Rock Club Sky Lounge, Banjara Hills, to not to harass the complainant and for letting him run his pub in his police station area through his home guard Hari.
Hari also demanded Rs. 10,000 from the complainant. Hari made multiple whatsapp calls to the complainant for the bribe amount on Narender's directions in order to collect the bribe amount.
Narender began harassing the complainant by filing a false case against him with the active cooperation of Sub-inspector S. Naveen Reddy after the pub owner failed to meet their bribe demand.
Sub-inspector S Naveen Reddy went to the complainant's pub and unnecessarily called him out of the pub and forcibly took him in the police vehicle, and detained him for hours at Banjara Hills Police Station.
Neela Rajeshwar Laxman Rao filed a complaint with the ACB due to persistent harassment from accused officers for the demanded bribe amount. A preliminary verification was conducted, and a case was registered against the accused officers.
The case is currently under investigation and any further action will be taken in accordance with the law.
