Basara IIIT students continue protests for fourth day demanding removal of incharge VC

HYDERABAD: Student protests at Basara IIIT continued for the fourth consecutive day, with students voicing strong demands for administrative changes. The protesters have been calling for the immediate removal of in-charge Vice-Chancellor (VC) Venkat Ramana, accusing him of incompetence and involvement in financial irregularities amounting to crores of rupees.

The students urged the state government to appoint a new VC for the university without delay. They also demanded that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy order a Vigilance inquiry into the alleged misappropriations by Venkat Ramana.

Additionally, the students criticised Education Principal Secretary Burra Venkatesham, alleging that he has been supporting Venkat Ramana without understanding the facts. They called for government action against Venkatesham for his role in the situation.

The protesting students further emphasised the need to fill the permanent teaching and non-teaching positions at the university, which have remained vacant for a long time and are affecting the quality of education and administration.
