Boy kidnapped for Rs 1-cr ransom in AP, let off after police pursuit

NARASAPURAM: The kidnap of a young boy, which caused panic here in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, ended on a happy note, with the police rescuing him within hours on Thursday.
According to information, Agastya, the young boy, a grandson of Gudivada Sai, was reportedly abducted by unknown assailants in a silver-coloured car while he was returning home from school. The kidnappers later demanded a ransom of Rs one crore from the boy's family in exchange for his release.
The parents immediately lodged a complaint with the nearby police station. The police, under the supervision of Narsapuram DSP Veeranjaneya Reddy, swung into action and tracked the movements of the kidnappers based on the location of their mobile phones.
However, when the police tried to apprehend the kidnappers, they left the boy in the car and abandoned the vehicle near Chinna Gollapalem of Krishna district before fleeing. Everyone heaved a sigh of relief after the police rescued the boy and handed him over to his family safely.
The police, with the help of the family members, also tried to elicit information about the kidnappers and what transpired during his abduction. The boy was visibly in a state of shock.
