HYDERABAD: A car driver working at a jewellery shop allegedly escaped with diamond jewellery worth Rs. 7 crore at Madhura Nagar under SR Nagar police station limits in Hyderabad. In a latest development to the case, the police suspected illegal transactions taking place in the jewellery shop after the owner Radhika delayed in complaining and denied to produce the bills of lost jewellery.
According to the police, Radhika, who resides at ‘My Home Bhooja’ Apartments in Madhapur and runs a jewellery shop, has received an order for diamond jewellery worth Rs. 50 lakh from Anusha of the same apartment. As Anusha requested Radhika to deliver the ornaments at her relatives' house in Madura Nagar, Radhika sent the jewellery with driver Srinivas (26) and salesman Akshay (30) in her car.
However, after reaching Madura Nagar and as the salesman Ashok went to deliver the jewellery to Anusha, driver Srinivas escaped with the diamond jewellery worth Rs. 7 crore that has to be delivered to Sirigiraju Gems and Jewellers.
Upon receiving information from Akshay, Radhika complained to the SR Nagar police. The police registered a case and carried out search operations for the driver. The police laid a dragnet to nab the accused.
The police carried out a search operation for the car driver with three teams and were investigating whether the car he was traveling in had GPS. They were also looking for hints showing that he was supported/accompanied by someone.
The police, based on the information provided by the salesman, suspected that the accused fled towards Vijayawada with jewellery.
