CBI arrests 2 SBI staffers for swindling Rs 5.23 crores

HYDERABAD: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a senior associate and cash in-charge of State Bank of India (SBI) of Narsapur Branch in Medak District (Telangana), for allegedly causing the bank a loss of Rs. 5,22,67,760.

Following complaints from the AGM of SBI, Siddipet, in Hyderabad, a case was registered against the senior associate and cash in-charge of SBI, Narsapur Branch, for allegedly misappropriating Rs. 2.32 crore in cash, gold ornaments worth Rs. 72 lakhs besides Rs 2.19 crore cash from three ATMs. The bank is said to have lost Rs. 5,22,67,760.

Searches were conducted at the residence of the accused in Narsapur, which resulted in the recovery of incriminating documents. The arrested suspect was brought before the Special Judge, CBI Cases, Hyderabad, and remanded in judicial custody until September 17,2022.
