Corporate hospital in Hyderabad accused of charging for deceased patient's treatment

HYDERABAD: A private hospital in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, is facing serious allegations after the family of a deceased patient claimed they were charged for his treatment despite his death during the surgery.

Venkatesh (50), from Narsapur village in Medak district, was admitted to the hospital for cancer treatment. His family alleged that the hospital took Rs 5.50 lakh for the surgery and then denied them access to him for three days. When the family became suspicious and broke into the ICU, they found Venkatesh dead.

The family has accused the hospital of continuing treatment on Venkatesh even after his death to extort more money. They allege the hospital demanded an additional Rs 4.50 lakh despite Venkatesh already being deceased.
