Court sentences man to death for rape, murder of six-year-old girl in Sangareddy

HYDERABAD: A court in Sangareddy awarded a death sentence to the accused for the brutal rape and murder of a six-year-old girl.

The crime took place in October last year when the accused, Ghaffar Khan, gave the child a cool drink mixed with alcohol. After making her consume the drink, he raped and murdered her.

After hearing the case, the Sangareddy district court delivered its judgement, sentencing Gaffar Khan to death. The court also ordered the state to provide Rs 10 lakh as compensation to the victim’s family.

The case had shocked the community, and the court’s judgement brought some relief to the grieving family.
