CV Anand invokes PD Act against gangster Nayeem's accomplice

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand on December 25 issued an order invoking the Preventive Detention Act (PD Act) against Muddunuri Sheshaiah, an accomplice of slain gangster Nayeemuddin alias Nayeem. Sheshaiah is lodged at the Chanchalguda Central Prison, Chanchalguda near Hyderabad since September 27, 2022.

According to the Hyderabad police, he is charged with 11 murders including those of Vadthya Ramulu in 2004 at Achampet, Kanaka Chary, a government teacher in 2005 at Mahaboobnagar, Chenchu Govindu at Farahabad X Roads in Mahaboobnagar district, Sridhar Reddy at Pahadishareef, and Patolla Govardhan Reddy in 2015 at Boggulakunta.

He is also an accused in the killing of Srinivas Rao, former Hyderabad constable, in Achampet in 2013, and an ex-naxalite Konapuram Ramulu in Nalgonda Town in 2014. Since 2004, he and his associates have been involved in extortion within the boundaries of various Telangana Police Stations.

On September 27, 2022, he was apprehended by the Golconda Police while carrying a country-made pistol and five live rounds in violation of Section 25 (1) (1A) of the Indian Arms Act, 1959. During interrogation, he confessed to supplying the country-made pistol and the five ammunition rounds to his associate and realtor Mohammad Abdullah alias Suresh Goud. The weapon and the ammunition were also seized by Humayun Nagar Police under u/s 25 (1-B) (a) of the Indian Arms Act.
