Cyberabad police arrest 3 for car theft, seize vehicles worth Rs 2.3 crore

HYDERABAD: Acting upon specific information, the sleuths of Special Operation Team (SOT), Shamshabad Zone along with Rajendranagar Police apprehended three persons for automobile theft.

Mohammed Azhar Javeed, Mohammed Zaheer, Mohammed Aman Khan were caught for allegedly stealing 4-wheelers from New Delhi and selling them in Cyberabad and Hyderabad police limits. The cops seized 15 stolen 4-wheeler vehicles worth about Rs. 2.3 crores-.

In 2020, Azhar Javeed returned to India from Qatar, after working at supermarkets and restaurants. While looking for jobs he came across a 'Car for Sale' post on OLX. Gulam Nabi, fourth accused (absconding), who posted the ad in OLX responded with full details by an offer of selling cars at lesser price and told Azhar that he could resell it in Hyderabad for good profit.

The accused accepted the offer and went to Delhi to meet Ghulam Nabi, who sold him an Innova for Rs 4 lakhs by giving documents of the Vehicle. The accused Azhar brought the vehicle to Hyderabad, changed the vehicle number and sold it for Rs 6.7 lakhs. In this transaction the accused Azhar got the profit of around Rs 2.7 lakhs.

Azhar and Ghulam continued to sell more cars this way. Ghulam gave two more cars in the same process with clear documents. After some days the accused offered one Toyota Fortuner to Azhar by quoting an amount of only Rs 2 lakhs and said that the certificates would be sent later. However, he never sent the certificates. Azhar later found out that these were stolen cars. They continued the business as both were making good profit.

The accused discussed the same with his associates Mohammed Zaheer and Mohammed Aman Khan who went to Delhi and met the accused Ghulam Nabi and colluded with him to execute the process of selling stolen vehicles.

The accused sold the stolen vehicles by saying that the vehicles were put up in auctions in other States and that they would give the documents after receiving NOCs from the concerned States.

4. Maruti Suzuki/Brezza-2
