HYDERABAD: A 66-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her son in Namaligonda, Station Ghanpur of Janagaon district after a dispute over Gruha Jyoti scheme.
The victim, Latchamma, a widow, had been living alone and working as a labourer to sustain herself.
Latchamma's son, Sataiah, who resides in Kazipet, visited his hometown with his wife, Mamatha, on Friday. After sending his wife back to Kazipet, Sataiah decided to stay with his mother. That night, Latchamma cooked chicken for dinner, and the two shared a meal.
During their conversation after dinner, Latchamma requested Sataiah's help in securing benefits from the Gruha Jyoti scheme, explaining that her income as a daily wage worker was not enough to cover her expenses. The conversation quickly turned into an argument. Enraged, Sataiah picked up a nearby iron rod and struck his mother multiple times on the head, causing her death.
