DRI officials seize gold worth Rs 2.9 crore in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials seized a large quantity of gold worth nearly Rs 2.9 crore in Hyderabad. The gold, weighing approximately four kilograms, was being transported on a bus from Kolkata to Hyderabad.

Acting on a tip-off, the DRI Hyderabad zonal unit intercepted the gold and detained two individuals involved in the smuggling operation. The seized gold, totalling 3,982.25 grams, was found concealed within clothing.

A case has been registered against the two suspects under the Customs Act, and they are currently being questioned to ascertain the origination and intended destination of the seized gold.
