AMARAVATI: A 21-year-old woman, who was married about five months ago, committed suicide at her parents' house in Mangalagiri of Andhra Pradesh on Friday night. The victim was identified as Samantha, hailing from the Weavers Colony in Tadepalli (Amaravati).

According to police, Samantha married one Naveen, a native of Tanuku, following their friendship over social media platform Facebook that blossomed into love. Due to 'ashada masam', perceived as an inauspicious month as per the Hindu calendar which forbids new couple to stay together, she came back to Mangalagiri. She had been staying at her parents' house in Weavers Colony since then.

Since her arrival here, Samantha reportedly had frequent arguments and fights with her husband Naveen over mobile phone which is believed to have driven her to taking this extreme step on Friday night.

A case has been registered and investigation is on to ascertain the exact reason for the suicide.
