HYDERABAD: A 52-year-old farmer died of suicide as he was allegedly upset over not getting a crop loan waiver.

The incident occurred on Friday morning when the victim, Surender Reddy, was found hanging from a tree within the premises of the agriculture office. Sources indicate that he had been facing financial difficulties due to mounting debt and was upset that the loan waiver had not materialised.

The Medchal police have registered a case and are currently investigating the matter. Further details are awaited.
