JAGTIAL: Two student deaths in just 10 days at the Peddapur Gurukula School in Metpally Mandal of Jagtial district sparked serious concern. Several other students also fell ill, leaving the remaining pupils and their parents deeply worried and anxious about the situation.

On Friday morning, two students, Anirudh and Mokshith, experienced severe stomach pains. Fellow students alerted the hostel staff, who rushed them to the government hospital in Korutla. They were later transferred to Jagtial District Hospital for further treatment. Sadly, Anirudh, a student from Rajanna Sircilla district, died during treatment. Mokshith's condition was reportedly stable.

Upon receiving the news, RDO Srinivas visited the student admitted to Metpally Hospital and gathered information about the incident. The deceased student's parents were informed, and the police registered a case and investigated the matter. The exact cause of the students' illness remained unknown.

Tragically, this was the second serious incident at the Peddapur Gurukul School hostel in recent weeks. On July 26, another student, Ghanaditya, son of tractor driver Mahesh and Lavanya from Arpet, Metpally, passed away after falling ill at the school. Ghanaditya, who had been sleeping with other students, started vomiting and became severely ill after midnight. Despite being informed by the principal and rushing their son to the hospital, the parents were devastated to learn that he had already passed away.

These consecutive incidents of student illness and death at the school sparked significant concern among parents, who demanded answers and reassurances about their children's safety.

Meanwhile, Korutla MLA Dr. Sanjay condemned the incidents and described them as a tragic outcome of government apathy. Dr. Sanjay highlighted the systemic failure, stating that this was not an isolated incident, with 11 similar cases reported across various Gurukula schools in the state. He accused the government of gross negligence and a lack of concern for the well-being of students in these institutions.

"This tragic incident exposed the utter incompetence of this government. They were in a deep slumber, oblivious to the plight of students in Gurukula schools," Dr. Sanjay declared. He further criticized the lack of accountability, stating that the school staff's apparent indifference towards the students' welfare stemmed from the government's lack of commitment.

Dr. Sanjay urged the government and school authorities to wake up to their responsibilities and prioritize the safety and well-being of the students. He demanded immediate action to address the issues plaguing Gurukula schools and prevent such tragic incidents from recurring.
