Horse race, cricket betting rackets busted in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: The LB Nagar Special Operation Team arrested a two-member horse race betting gang and a four-member cricket-betting gang in Hyderabad.
The LB Nagar Zone Team SOT along with Chaitanyapuri police conducted raid over Janapriya Homes, Green Hills Colony,and busted a horse-betting racket organised through a WhatsApp group named Turf Line and apprehended two accused persons, Bujji Vinod Kumar (45) and Regulagadda Sai Kumar (23).
They seized net cash of Rs 3 lakhs and frozen amount Rs7.2 lakhs from Bujji Vinod Kumar's bank account, three mobile phones, two laptops and other incriminating material, all worth over Rs 11.5 lakhs.
The accused started horse race betting through WhatsApp to earn easy money. The main bookie Adesh Singh, who was still absconding, used to provide betting ratios to Bujji Vinod Kumar and collected 5% share amount.
In another incident, the SOT, along with LB Nagar police conducted raid at Sai Sapthagiri Colony, Mansoorabad, LB Nagar, and busted a cricket betting racket organised during T20 world super 12 match between West Indies vs Zimbabwe and arrested four accused persons – Munukuntla Bhasker (35), Thota Koteshwar Rao (30), Govind Rajesh Kumar (35) and Konduru Srinivas (40).
They seized net cash of Rs 6 lakhs and frozen amount Rs 10.71 lakhs in two ICICI bank accounts belonging to Munukuntla Soundarya and Thota Koteshwar Rao and four mobile phones and other incriminating material, from their possession.
