HYDERABAD: A police inspector and former station house officer of Marredpally Police station is accused of raping the wife of an accused at gun point. A case was registered against him based on a complaint lodged by the victim in Marredpally Police Station in Hyderabad.

Former SHO Koratla Nageshwar Rao allegedly tried to mislead with his claim that he had an extra-marital relationship with the victim, during custody. But subsequent investigation based on medical examination revealed that the police officer had raped the victim at gun point.

Acting against the accused, a woman Superintendent of Police (SP) level officer recorded the statement of the victim in the presence of the Magistrate. In an inquiry report it was stated that the accused had threatened and raped the victim at gunpoint. It was also stated that Koratla Nageshwar Rao looked to sexually exploit the victim in view of the cases under trail against her husband.

The Vanasthalipuram police are in the middle of an exercise to complete recording of pending statements of witnesses in the case to prepare a fool-proof chargesheet against the accused police officer.
