Hyderabad police arrest one more accused in Rs 903-cr hawala scam

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police apprehended Imran, another suspect in the Rs 903 crore Hawala scam case, on Tuesday. The case was registered in the Cyber Crime Police Station based on a complaint lodged by a victim from Hyderabad.

Addressing a press conference here, Hyderabad Commissioner of Police CV Anand said that 10 accused persons, including one Chinese and one Taiwanese national, were already arrested on October 13, 2022.

According to him, three of the accused, arrested earlier, were from Hyderabad. Their accounts were used in the crime. Imran, whose arrest was announced on Tuesday, is a native of Mumbai and currently presumed to be living in Dubai, opened these accounts.

Imran reportedly took the help of another accused Parvez to open these accounts in Hyderabad. According to the Cyber Crime Police, Imran was taken into custody in Mumbai.
