IG sends three CIs, 13 SIs in Vacancy Reserve for failure to curb illegal sand mining

Officers transferred or placed on reserve for failing to control illegal sand transport in Multi-zone-2.

HYDERABAD: Inspector General (IG) V Satyanarayana has taken action against police officials in Multi-zone-2 for their failure to curb illegal sand transport across nine districts. Orders were issued placing three Circle Inspectors (CIs) and 13 Sub-Inspectors (SIs) in Vacancy Reserve (VR) as a disciplinary measure. Earlier, one CI and 14 SIs were also transferred as part of ongoing action in the matter.

The affected officers include those from Sangareddy Rural, Tandur Rural, and Tandur Town, as well as SIs from Veepanagandla, Bijinapalli, Telkapalli, Vangur, Uppanuthala, Sangareddy Rural, Peddemul, Yalal, Thungathurthi, Atmakur(S), Pen Pahad, Vadapalli, and Haliya. The IG noted that some officers were suspected of directly or indirectly aiding illegal sand transportation, prompting these actions. He also mentioned that these officers would soon be moved to "loop line" postings.

Additional transfers were previously ordered for SIs from Adavidevipalli, Vemulapalli, Narketpalli, Chandur, Madugulapalli, Thipparthi, Chintalapalem, Thirumalagiri, Nagaram, Jajireddygudem, Achampet, Bomraspet, Tandur, and Chinnambavi. The IG expressed concerns about the adverse impact of illegal sand mining on government revenue and the environment, particularly due to unregulated digging in prohibited river areas and streams.

IG Satyanarayana also stated that illegal transport of Public Distribution System (PDS) rice would be met with similar strict action. In a related development, Kondamallepalli Home Guard and a constable from Jadcherla involved in illegal sand transport collections were attached to the District Armed Reserve (DAR).

Furthermore, disciplinary action was taken against Circle Inspector A Nagaraju from Vikarabad Town for negligence in a sexual assault case involving a minor girl and misconduct during the investigation. He was suspended with immediate effect.
