Imposter nobbles Rs. 4 Cr from women on Instagram
He regularly chatted with them posing as a high-profile person.
HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad cyber crime police have arrested a youth on a prisoner transit (PT) warrant for duping 60 women posing as a high-profile person through fake Instagram accounts.
Jogada Vamsi Krishna, a B.Tech graduate hailing from Rajahmundry, created fake accounts in the name of girls on Instagram and befriended about 60 young women. He regularly chatted with them posing as a high-profile person.
The accused has allegedly used his friendship and collected Rs four crores from the women. However, a young woman from Hyderabad who was cheated of Rs 25 lakh, lodged a complaint with the Hyderabad cyber crime police.
After investigation, the Hyderabad cyber crime police took Ramsi Krishna into custody on a PT warrant before remanding him. The police said that Vamsi Krishna has a long previous criminal record in both the Telugu states as well. He was charged with similar offences earlier in Rachakonda, East Godavari, West Godavari, Kakinada, Jogulamba Gadwal, Nizamabad, Khammam, Bhimavaram, Vizag, Karimnagar and Vijayawada.
