Killer of NRI businessman, TV channel owner Chigurupati Jayaram gets lifer

HYDERABAD: The prime accused Kalvakuntala Rakesh Reddy, has been sentenced to lifetime imprisonment for the murder of NRI businessman Chigrupati Jayaram by the Additional Metropolitan Sessions court on Thursday.
He must therefore pay a penalty of Rs.10,000 offence punishable under for the offence under section 302 of IPC. He would be imprisoned for six months if the fine was not paid.
The accused was also sentenced to seven years in prison and a Rs.5,000 fine for the offence punishable under Section 201 of the Indian Penal Code.
Rakesh Reddy was also sentenced to three years in prison and a Rs.5,000 fine for the offence punishable under Section 347 of the Indian Penal Code.
Chigrupati Jayaram, a 55-year-old NRI businessman, was murdered in January 2019 for allegedly repay a Rs 6 crore debt. Jayaram allegedly owed a realtor named Rakesh Reddy Rs 6 crore, and after he failed on the debt, Rakesh Reddy allegedly tortured him until he died.
