Korutla SI suspended after man attempts suicide alleging assault

KORUTLA: A police sub-inspector (SI) in Korutla, Shweta, has been suspended after a man named Shivaprasad attempted suicide, alleging that she assaulted him.

The suspension order was issued by Multi-Zone IG Chandrasekhar Reddy following the incident, which has caused a stir in the local community.

The incident stems from a family dispute between Shivaprasad and his wife, Kavitha, who lodged a complaint against him on September 19. As part of the investigation, Shivaprasad was called to the Korutla police station for counselling on September 22. During this session, the SI allegedly assaulted Shivaprasad, according to his sister.

Following the incident, Shivaprasad, distressed by the alleged mistreatment, attempted suicide the next morning by pouring petrol over himself. He was immediately rushed to the hospital and is receiving treatment.

In response to the serious allegations, IG Chandrasekhar Reddy suspended SI Shweta, pending a full investigation.
