Land grabbing gang targets poor families in Medchal district
A gang is illegally occupying lands in Boduppal, attacking residents who resist, say locals.
HYDERABAD: A gang, operating in the style of the notorious Nayeem gang, has been targeting poor families by illegally occupying their lands in Medchal district’s Boduppal area. Residents claim that the gang is seizing their homes and attacking those who try to resist, with no action from the authorities.
In 1999, the then Home Minister Devender Goud distributed land titles to 1,150 poor families on government land located in Survey No. 63/1 of Boduppal. This area later developed into the colonies of Devender Nagar, Gautham Nagar, Seetharam Nagar, and Ambedkar Nagar.
However, a gang has recently begun encroaching on these lands, particularly targeting properties owned by economically weaker families. The gang has reportedly been occupying the land overnight and quickly starting illegal constructions. Locals allege that those who attempt to stop the encroachments face violent retaliation from the gang.
Residents have repeatedly approached revenue and police officials, seeking protection for their lands, but they claim their complaints have been ignored. Frustrated, the victims have expressed their distress over the lack of action from the authorities.
