Married woman runs away with teenager, father files case

AMARAVATI: A case that the Gudivada police of Andhra Pradesh are probing may remind you of a scene straight from a D-grade Indian film. They were initially dumbstruck when a complaint was lodged with them: A married woman went missing along with a 15-year-old teenaged neighbour!
A case of kidnap was registered by the Gudivada Two Town Police against the woman, Swapna, based on the complaint lodged by Sundara Raju, the father of the boy. As per the complaint, the woman, who had been staying at Goodmen Pet along with her husband and two children, has developed affinity towards the 15-year-old teenaged boy from the opposite house.
On July 19, the two families were in for a rude shock when they realised that both Swapna and the teenager had been missing. Amid suspicions that the two could have vanished together, Sundara Raju approached the police for help.
The news has sparked speculation that the two were love-locked and involved in an unlikely companionship. The police are also probing the case to see if there is any ransom angle also involved in it.
Two Town Inspector Durga Rao stated that they could establish in their preliminary inquiry that Swapna had brainwashed the boy and tricked him into accompanying her.
The investigators received a shot in the arm on Tuesday when the runaway duo was tracked down and apprehended in Hyderabad. As per latest reports, they were being shifted back to Gudivada.
The local police are likely to divulge the case details on Wednesday after quizzing the two in Gudivada.
