Minor girl raped, tortured in NTR District

A minor girl of Visannapeta was allegedly raped, tortured, and harassed by a 22-year-old man in the name of love in NTR district of Andhra Pradesh. The family members of the victim lodged a complaint with the police.

The victim was residing in a hostel at Tiruvuru. Thota Chandu, who hailed from her village, used to follow her. According to Chandu, who claimed to be in love with her, allegedly harassed and raped her on August 10. He did not spare the girl even after she rejected his love proposal.

She narrated the whole assault episode to her family, and the village meeting that followed the next day failed to resolve the issue. So the victim's family visited the Tiruvuru Police Station and lodged a complaint against Chandu and his two friends who allegedly helped him.

Tiruvuru Circle Inspector K Giribabu registered a case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and an investigation is on.
