NIA denies it picked up suspect in Udaipur killing from Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday denied the reports of the arrest of Mohammad Munawwar Hussain in connection with the murder of Kanhaiyya Lal Teli in Rajasthan's Udaipur on June 28.

It was reported on Wednesday that the NIA, which is probing the case of the tailor's killing, had detained Hussain from a hotel in the Santosh Nagar area of Hyderabad. It was also reported that he was taken to the NIA office in Madhapur for questioning..However, the agency rejected the report on Thursday.

Tailor Kanhaiya Lal Teli was hacked to death in Rajasthan's Udaipur on June 28 for sharing a social media post in support of now-suspended Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Nupur Sharma over her controversial remark against Prophet Mohammad.Soon after committing the crime, the two accused -- Riyaz Akhtari and Ghouse Mohammad -- posted a video on social media boasting about the "beheading", saying that they were avenging an insult to Islam.

Meanwhile, the Rajasthan cabinet has decided to give government jobs to the sons of Kanhaiya Lal.On Wednesday, Women and Child Development Minister Mamta Bhupesh said the cabinet has decided to appoint Lal's sons Yash Teli and Tarun Teli in the government service.

She said relaxation has been given in the rules for the appointment. This appointment will be provided under Rule 6C of Rajasthan Subordinate Office Clerk Service (Amendment) Rules, 2008 and 2009.
