HYDERABAD: The Cyberabad police have busted illegal horse race betting racket in Hyderabad and arrested 13 people, following a raid at a house in Tejaswi Nagar Colony and in Rajendranagar of Ranga Reddy district.
The police seized Rs. 51,000 cash, 17 mobile phones, 19 debit cards, credit cards, a horse racing guidebook, and a car.
According to reports, the police, on receiving the information about the betting on horse race, conducted raids at an apartment in Tejaswi Colony and arrested 13 people as they tried to escape. The arrested were reportedly known to be big businessmen in the city.
It is found that the main accused Tirumal Reddy runs horse racing betting online and created a WhatsApp group in the name of RS World. He is said to be posting the details of the horse race in the WhatsApp group and conducting the betting.
The police have registered a case under the Telangana Gaming Act against 13 people and are investigating it further.
