Police seize Rs 35.50 lakh unaccounted cash in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad police seized Rs. 35,50,000 unaccountable cash during a vehicle check at Puranapul Bridge in Jummerath Bazaar on Thursday.
The checks were carried out in accordance with the directives of the DCP, South West Zone, and were carried out under the supervision of ACP Goshamahal, Inspector and DI, as well as staff at Puranapul Bridge and Jummerath Bazaar as part of nakabandi.
A man riding a two-wheeler was stopped by the South Zone police who saw a large Army pattern bag and Rs 18,00,000 worth of cash in his possession. However, the commuter failed to provide a satisfactory answer or provide supporting documents when the police inquired about the huge amount in his bag.
On further investigation, he revealed his identity as Rohit Giri(28), a resident of Attapur, and was carrying Rs. 18,00,000 cash. Based on his leads, the police discovered more unaccounted cash of Rs.17,50,000 from Hamidullah's scrap store in Musheerabad.
A total of Rs. 35,50,000 in unaccounted for cash was recovered. The seizure was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner South West Zone and Kiran Khare, with the active cooperation of ACP Goshamahal Division K Venkat Reddy and Shahinayathgunj Inspector N Ravinder.
A case was registered under Crime No. 245/2023 U/Sec.102 Cr.P.C in Shahinayathgunj police station.
