VIJAYAWADA: Protests erupted at Gudlavalleru Engineering College in Andhra Pradesh after a secret camera was discovered in the washroom of the women's hostel. The discovery led to the leak of 300 photos and videos, sparking outrage among students.
The incident came to light on Thursday evening when several women found the hidden cameras. In response, students began protesting from 7 p.m., continuing through the night until the next morning, demanding justice and action against those responsible.
Vijay Kumar, a senior B.Tech student residing in the boys' hostel, was arrested in connection with the incident. Police seized his laptop as part of the investigation. According to reports, 300 photos and videos from the women's hostel washroom were leaked, with allegations that some students purchased these recordings from Vijay Kumar.
The protests drew participation from local residents as well, who joined the students in condemning the invasion of privacy. The police are actively investigating to identify who installed the cameras and who was involved in sharing the videos.
