HYDERABAD: Two persons, including a minor boy, were arrested on Wednesday by Meerpet police in the sensational case of kidnapping and gangrape of a minor girl.
According to the police, the victim's family relocated from the Old City to Lenin Nagar in Meerpet three months ago. The victim met her next-door neighbour Sheriyar Rathan Singh, who subsequently kept following her with the intent of sexually exploiting the young girl. He even developed a rapport with her.
When the victim visited Ramalayam Temple on November 5, 2022, Sheriyar Rathan Singh and his minor friend asked her to join them for a ride on his Honda Activa vehicle to Devathala Gutta and other places.
On reaching the place, both the accused allegedly gang-raped the minor girl. However, when they came to know that the victim's mother was looking for her, they immediately dropped her off at her house. Sheriyar Rathan Singh, the main accused, had a criminal history with 10 cases booked under Meerpet and Saroornagar police station limits.
The Meerpet Police investigated the case from all dimensions, analysing technical data and eyewitness statements. Acting quickly on leads from the available evidence, the police zeroed in on the accused persons on Wednesday, along with the Honda Activa Bike used in the crime. While Sheriyar Rathan Singh is being held in judicial custody, the minor boy was set to appear before the Juvenile Board.
