Rachakonda police nab six persons in Meerpet gangrape case

HYDERABAD: Rachakonda police arrested six accused involved in the Meerpet gangrape case on Tuesday. The six accused had allegedly gang-raped a minor on August 21, 2023, in Shanti Nagar, Lalapet area.

The incident occurred when the victim visited Nandanavanam with her cousin. Abed-Bin-Khaled, the main accused, assaulted the victim when she visited Nandanavanam with her cousin's sister.

He, along with his friends, threatened her with a knife on August 21, 2023, sexually assaulting her while showing a knife. A gang-rape case was registered on August 21, 2023, involving a victim from Shanthi Nagar, Lalapet, Hyderabad.

Police immediately went into action, forming and deploying special squads to apprehend the suspects. On August 22, 2023, at around 4 p.m., special teams arrested the main accused, Abed-Bin-Khaled, at Santhosh Nagar as he was on his way to Nandanavanam , and brought him to the Meerpet police station.

The accused confessed his guilt during the interrogation, and the police seized one knife from his possession. A case was registered u/s 452, 324, 376-DA, 506 IPC, and Sec. 5(g)r/w 6 of the POCSO Act.
