MEDAK: The state’s social welfare residential schools continue to face various issues daily. Recently, incidents of students falling ill after consuming contaminated food, including meals with insects, have been reported. A new issue has now emerged in the Ramayampet Social Welfare Gurukul hostel in Medak district.

Rats have been freely roaming the hostel, biting several students. In this latest incident, 12 girls were bitten by rats and subsequently fell ill. The affected students are receiving treatment at a government hospital, while their parents are deeply concerned.

The parents alleged that despite multiple complaints from the students to the principal about rats biting them while they sleep, no action has been taken.
