Scared by layoffs, software techie dies by suicide in Narsingi

HYDERABAD: The fear of losing job amid massive and indiscriminate layoffs has taken the toll of a software techie who died by suicide in Narsingi. Vinod Kumar, the software employee, ended his life by hanging himself from the ceiling fan of his house at Narsinghi of Puppalguda in Rangareddy district. He took the extreme step reportedly fearing that he would lose his job in the wake of the retrenchment drive being carried out by the tech companies.

According to reports, Vinod Kumar was a native of Guntur district and had been working for a software company in Hyderabad. He got married five years ago. Vinod went into depression due to work pressure from the company and the fear of layoffs being reported in various firms. Unable to deal with this stress, he ended his life by hanging himself from the ceiling fan at his house.

Narsingi police have registered a case of death occurring under suspicious circumstances and are investigating it further.
