HYDERABAD: A seven-year-old boy succumbed to his injuries after an electrical short circuit ignited a fire in his house in Eidulagattepalli village, situated in the Manakondur mandal of Karimnagar district on Friday night.

The victim, Sai Kumar, was the son of Angidi Anita and Raju. The couple had a daughter named Ritika too. Raju is an auto driver, while Anita earns daily wage labor and sells plastic sheets used to cover crops. Last Friday evening, Anita, along with her husband Raju and their daughter Ritika, had stepped out, leaving Sai Kumar asleep in their house.

According to reports, the fire began as a short circuit and spread to other items of the house, which had plastic sheets stored inside the house. The person, Sai Kumar, was already asleep. To his luck, the flames were already engulfing the room by the time he slept off. In fact, when Anita came back home, she found the entire house engulfed in flames. She promptly alerted the fire department. However, by the time the fire personnel reached and extinguished the flames, it was too late; Sai Kumar had been trapped and was found dead.

The fire also burnt all the household belongings of the family.
