SI's harsh treatment in Nagarkurnool leads to youth’s suicide attempt
An SI in Nagarkurnool allegedly forced three youths to shave their heads, leading one to attempt suicide due to humiliation.
HYDERABAD: In a shocking incident from Nagarkurnool district, three youths were allegedly subjected to humiliating treatment by a sub-inspector (SI) at the Lingala police station, resulting in one youth attempting suicide. The incident, which has now come to light, has caused widespread outrage.
The incident started when three youths had a dispute with staff at a petrol pump near Lingala. The petrol pump staff filed a complaint with the police. Instead of resolving the issue, SI Jaganmohan Reddy reportedly acted inappropriately. After summoning the three youths to the station, the SI issued a warning. However, the situation escalated when one of the youths began combing his hair in front of the officer. Enraged by this, the SI reportedly forced all three youths to shave their heads as a form of punishment.
The public humiliation deeply affected the three youths, particularly Nitish, who felt his dignity was shattered. In a state of distress, he attempted to hang himself. He was rushed to the Nagarkurnool government hospital, where his condition remains critical.
Despite the severe consequences of his actions, it is reported that SI Jaganmohan Reddy has shown no signs of remorse. He allegedly instructed the other two youths to leave their village and move to Hyderabad. The delayed revelation of this incident has now sparked widespread condemnation and demands for accountability.
