HYDERABAD: In a landmark judgment, the Telangana High Court has upheld the death sentence for the convict in a rape and murder case involving a minor girl. The court delivered its verdict on Wednesday, confirming the earlier decision by the Rangareddy Court.

The incident dates back to 2018 in Narsingi, where Dinesh, a labourer, raped and subsequently murdered a four-and-a-half-year-old girl. In 2021, the Rangareddy Court sentenced Dinesh to death for his heinous crime.

The convict challenged the verdict and approached the High Court. After reviewing the petition, the High Court supported the Rangareddy Court's decision, affirming the death sentence.

The police identified the young man who committed the rape and murder as a labourer working in centring.
