GUNTUR: The Tenali police arrested four men who allegedly produced fake documents and fake surety and helped two thieves get out on bail.

Two men, Bhanuprakash hailing from Guntur and Bhuvaneshwar hailing from Tenali were arrested, in 2019, for petty robbery after which they were released on bail. However, they did not appear for further court hearings. When inquired, officials found that their lawyer gave fake addresses.

The court then sent notices to sureties, on whose name they were granted bail, only to find out that they were fake addresses too.

Reportedly, family members of the accused approached a lawyer to arrange bail for them. The lawyer then contacted a man named Joshua from Guntur to arrange fake guarantors. Those documents were prepared by Bhavanishankar, who ran a computer institute in Guntur. Suresh and Koteswaramma of Chilakaluripet acted as guarantors.

Tenali Deputy Superintendent of Police Sravanti Rai said that four people have been arrested and they were looking for the lawyer.
