Tollywood actor Navdeep summoned for allegedly procuring banned drugs

HYDERABAD: Telangana State Narcotics Bureau (TSNAB) has issued a 41A notice to Tollywood actor Navdeep regarding the Gudimalkapur drugs case in Hyderabad.

In the notice, he was asked to report to the NCB office in Basheerbagh on September 23, 2023, for an inquiry.

Sleuths of Telangana State Narcotics Bureau conducted Tuesday searches at Tollywood actor P Navdeep's Hyderabad residence on suspicion of drug procurement from peddlers.

However, Navdeep was not reportedly present at his residence during the search operation. Narcotics police identified Ramchander as a narcotics dealer who supplied drugs to Navdeep, using evidence from Navadeep's contacts, including WhatsApp and call data.

The Telangana High Court had directed Hyderabad City Police to refrain from coercing Navdeep in a drug case following the arrest of three Nigerian peddlers.

The court orders mandate investigators to follow the procedures outlined in Section 41A of the CrPC for examining or questioning the actor. The court heard Navdeep's anticipatory bail application after the police publicly announced that the actor was absconding.

Three more people were granted anticipatory bail in a drug case by the Telangana High Court. Surya, the owner of Smart Pub and the event organiser Kalahari Reddy, was given anticipatory bail in the narcotics case.

The rest of them were directed by the High Court to surrender to Gudimalkapur police on September 26, 2023. The judge also ordered the police to arrest and release them on bail. The accused were additionally directed to report to police every Monday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
