Two killed as lorry hits stationary bus at Choutuppal

HYDERABAD: Two passengers died and eleven others sustained injuries after a container lorry collided with a stationary private bus near Ellambavi, Choutuppal mandal, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, early on Saturday.

The bus had halted on the national highway when the lorry struck it from behind, leading to the deaths of two passengers who were asleep at the time.

The deceased were identified as Satish Kumar (55) and Teja (24), both from Illandu in Khammam district. Their bodies were moved to the government hospital in Choutuppal.

Police, upon receiving information, reached the scene and commenced rescue operations. The injured passengers were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. At the time of the accident, the bus was carrying 23 passengers. A case was registered, and an investigation is underway.
