Union leader arrested for assaulting outsourcing employee in Warangal MGM Hospital

WARANGAL: The Warangal Police arrested a union leader for allegedly attacking an outsourcing employee at MGM Hospital in Warangal.

The victim, Sumalatha, was reportedly assaulted by union leader Rajamma.

Briefing media persons, Warangal ACP Nandiram Naik said that Sumalatha, who had been working as an outsourcing employee at the hospital for the past 15 years, was confronted by Rajamma on Monday when she reported for duty. Rajamma allegedly blocked her and demanded a bribe of Rs 2 lakh, claiming she had helped Sumalatha secure her job. She threatened to kill Sumalatha if the bribe was not paid.

Rajamma then attacked Sumalatha with an iron chain she had brought with her. Additionally, she allegedly stole Rs 10,000 and Sumalatha's mobile phone during the assault. Sumalatha later filed a complaint with the police, leading to Rajamma's arrest. The police seized Rs 1,000 in cash and the iron chain used in the attack.

ACP Naik confirmed that Rajamma was remanded to judicial custody following her arrest.
