VISAKHAPATNAM: The Visakhapatnam police registered a case against Saipriya (21), the woman who allegedly misled the police and caused a massive search operation on the RK Beach here last month.

On July 25, a complaint was lodged with the local police by Saipriya's father stating that his daughter was missing after visiting the RK Beach along with her husband. The police, who swung into action to locate Saipriya, also requisitioned helicopters from the Indian Navy to carry out the search operations. The Naval choppers made several sorties into the sea for the next 48 hours in search of Saipriya. The entire operation caused heavy expenditure due to the use of precious naval resources.
